The entire process for foreigners entering China at the airport
1. Core Documents:Passport with valid validity + corresponding visa (Starting October 2025, a new K-type visa will be introduced for young science and technology talents; details can be found on the Chinese government website)
2. Key Actions:Fill out the “Foreigner Entry Card” in advance (Starting November 2025, it can be completed online—no need to fill out a paper version anymore)
1. Computer:National Immigration Administration official website (search “Entry Card Submission”)
2. Mobile:Use the “Immigration Bureau 12367” APP or WeChat/Alipay mini-program. After submission, a QR code will be generated—save it carefully so you can scan it at the airport for clearance
Step 1:Upon arrival of your flight, follow the “International Arrival” signs
Step 2:Customs health quarantine—simple temperature check; if no abnormalities are detected, proceed
Step 3:Entry card verification—present the QR code saved in advance, or complete the form on-site via self-service kiosk or paper card
Step 4:Border control inspection
• Submit documents:Passport + visa + entry card QR code (or paper card)
• Fingerprint collection:Required for ages 14–70 (exemptions apply for diplomatic visas, those under 14, over 70, or individuals who have already provided fingerprints within the past five years)
• Brief questioning:Officers may ask about your purpose of entry, length of stay, and place of accommodation—just answer truthfully
Step 5:Collect your luggage—go to the baggage claim area and locate the carousel assigned to your flight, then retrieve your bags
Step 6:Customs inspection
• No items to declare:Proceed through the Green Channel directly
• Items to declare:Go to the Red Channel and complete the declaration form
Step 7:Leave the airport—head to the pick-up area, subway, or taxi stand, and begin your journey in China
